These web pages serve the graduate students of Coweeta LTER by providing information about available resources and links to areas of the Coweeta website that are of use to graduate students.  Please also familiarize yourself with the Coweeta LTER home page for more information and data resources.


Graduate Assistantship Registrations
PIs should complete the Coweeta Graduate Student Registration by June 1st for returning and new graduate assistants for the following fiscal year (July 1st-June 30th).


It is the student's responsibility to check with his/her student account to verify that tuition has been waived for the months supported.  Contact the business office if tuition has not been waived a week before the start date of classes.

 
Please notify the
business office of any changes to the assistantship standing.


Introduction to Coweeta LTER Online
Since 1937, Coweeta has supported over two hundred bodies of research The data catalog feature a number of special collections that include demographics, species collections, sample archives and monthly climate data

Coweeta researchers have generated over 1200 publications.  Search through and view over 1200 of these complete publications online.  In addition, over 225 Coweeta LTER graduate theses and dissertations dating from 1937 are available online.  Note that many of the theses and dissertations are abstracts only.

GIS Data for the Southern Appalachians: COGENT
Recognizing that GIS is a critical component to ecological research over the next decade, Coweeta LTER has made a commitment to generating the premier GIS data collection for the southern Appalachians, housed at the Coweeta Geographic Network (COGENT).

 

Software and Hardware Resources
Graduate students are welcome to use the printer, computer resources, and software located in the Coweeta Information Management Office, Room 151 in Baldwin Hall at the University of Georgia. 

Software - Programs installed on Coweeta Information Management computers are available for student use.  These programs include:

ArcGIS 9.0 including ArcView/Map and ArcInfo

Microsoft Office Suite including Access, PowerPoint and FrontPage

Terms of Use
The Coweeta LTER HP Design Jet Large Format Plotter is available for use to PIs, graduate students, and other researchers associated with Coweeta LTER on a cost-return basis.

Reservations
Coweeta LTER PIs, graduate students and others associated with Coweeta LTER may reserve use of the HP Designjet Large Format Printer.  Contact Coweeta Information Management (E-Mail | Telephone: 706.542.5691) at least 24 hours before your desired printing time.
