Mosaicing is the process of stitching adjacent maps together to create a larger geographic coverage.  If you have questions, please contact Coweeta LTER directly for assistance (706.542.5691).

Please note: These instructions are for Coweeta LTER "no border" images that have recoded null/background values to Maximum.  You must have Coweeta LTER "no border" images or recode your own images during subsetting.  Coweeta has recoded our DRG's to remove the inherent difficulties of mosaicing DRG's.  We have accomplished this by making the null or background value higher than all valid values.  Choose:  "Minimum Value" in overlay options.
 
Prerequisites:
ERDAS IMAGINE software installed on your computer.
Downloaded DRG's from Coweeta.

STEP 1:
Open ERDAS IMAGINE.
Data Prep > Mosaic Images...




STEP 2:
Mosaic Tool > Edit > Add Images...


 

STEP 3:
Highlight Images to Add.
Choose "Use Entire Image" radio button.
Click Add.



 

STEP 4:
Mosaic Tool > Edit > Set Overlap Function...

STEP 5:
Choose Radio Button "No Cutline Exists"
Choose Radio Button "Minimum"
Click "Apply"
Click "Close"

STEP 6:
Mosaic Tool > Process > Run Mosaic


STEP 7:
Enter Output File Name
Ignore Input Values:  Leave blank or enter: 15
Output Background Value: 15
Check "Stats Ignore Value" and enter: 15
Click OK
