Dissertations & Theses Catalog
When he finished his doctoral dissertation in 1937, E.F. Brater, a graduate student based at the University of Michigan, became the first graduate student to complete an advanced degree based upon work at Coweeta.  Over two hundred and thirty students have since gone on to complete graduate-level degrees at Coweeta.  Abstracts and, where available, complete copies of these dissertations and abstracts are archived in the Coweeta LTER Dissertations & Theses Catalog.

 

Technical Publications 
Analytical Procedures for Chemical Analysis
Laboratory techniques used at Coweeta to process field samples and to determine mineral and nutrient concentrations.  Sample collections, quality assurance, and laboratory procedures are covered in the manual.

The manual covers a wide range of analytical procedures, including preparation of plant tissues for chemical analysis, preparation of soils for chemical analysis, digestions (Kjeldahl Nitrogen, Cations, Phosphorous), sediments protocols, acidity and alkalinity sampling, and speciation of stream and soil solution aluminum.

 

 



Field Technician Procedures Manuals
Published and updated regularly since 1995, Field Technician Procedures Manuals cover procedures for specific instructions to Coweeta personnel on fieldwork protocols.  Sampling protocols, soil lysimeters, stream bed wells, microclimate stations, TDR soil moisture readings, dendrometer tree bands, and leaf litter screens are covered. 

The 2001 manual is the currently active manual.  Preceding years manuals are provided as historical record pertaining to data sets handled during a specific time period.
