Introduction: Coweeta LTER is in the process of collecting GPS
points for research sites across the study area. New projects should
include GPS points or a concrete plan, with date of submission, for
collecting GPS points.
To Submit:
1. The site director of Coweeta LTER will have the responsibility of
submitting GPS points to Coweeta Information Management. A copy of
GPS points to be placed online should be e-mailed to:
helpdesk@sparc.ecology.uga.edu.
2. GPS points should be submitted in ESRI ArcView format in the
following projection: Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM), NAD 83,
Zone 17. A .prj file is mandatory.
What happens next:
a. GPS points will be checked for accuracy, and re-projected to
latitude/longitude coordinate system.
b. GPS points will be made available online on the data summary
sheet associated with the project.
c. On online map will be generated from the GPS points, showing the
location of the research project.
An example may be found
